Benalla

Popularly known as the "Rose City", Benalla is a regional city in the state of Victoria. Situated along the eastern banks of the Broken River, this commercial centre is located roughly 188 kilometres north-east of Melbourne, the state capital. Originally a pastoral land, the area was first called Benalta Run (believed to be derived from the Aboriginal word for musk duck). Its estimated population is 9,129 residents.

Established in the 1840s, Benalla is part of the Local Government Area of the Rural City of Benalla. The city is within the State District of Benalla (in the Victorian Legislative Assembly) and the Federal Division of Indi (in the Australian House of Representatives).

Tourism is a thriving industry in Benalla thanks to the various highlights of its culture, geography, and history. As such, locals and visitors alike have much to experience and enjoy in the city.
